How this tool works

It does not guess. It counts real apps people already use, then shows where a better one could win.

  1. 1

Load two stores on this computer

Chrome comes from your ranking file. Jira comes from Atlassian’s public list. Nothing is uploaded. The dump never goes into a chat.

  2. 2

    Rank what is already busy

Users (or installs), stars, and review count. Gap is high use + lots of notes + weaker stars. That is “room to do it better.”

  3. 3

Pick a type, then a job

Productivity is a shelf, not a product. The next cut is the job: PDF, work sign-in, checklists, time tracking. Same type. Different things to build.

  4. 4

    Read what people already said

We pull live notes from the store for the busiest apps in that job. AI reads them and groups real asks. “It is broken” stays a side note. The cards are things to build, with a quote from the store.

  5. 5

    You decide what to build

The list is still there. Sort by users, stars, reviews, or gap. Click Reset when you want the full shelf again.

Quick questions

FAQ

Where does the data live?

On this computer, in a local file. The app runs at 127.0.0.1. It is not on the public web.

Why is a box empty?

That filter has no matches. Example: you already zoomed into one type, so “weak types” has nowhere else to point. The list below still has the apps.

What does Gap mean?

Busy product, lots of notes, not-great stars. A place a cleaner product could win.

Are the user counts guesses?

No. Chrome uses the ranking file. Jira uses Atlassian’s install count.

How does Jira week growth work?

Atlassian does not publish last week’s installs. We save a local snapshot, then compare after you run ingest:jira again.

What is the Week growth page?

A second Chrome file with week / month / 3-month user change, for extensions at 10k+ users. We join it to the Aug 25 dump for type and listing URL. Sort by week % to find new apps that jumped.

Does AI make up comments?

No. It only groups notes from the store. Each card keeps a real quote. If AI is down, we fall back to word match.
